In Pennsylvania for instance, the PA Sunshine Grant Program gives grant money to PA homeowners installing solar electric systems ranging in size from 1kW-10kW. Currently the program is offering $.75/watt installed with a maximum grant of $7,500 for a 10kW system (you can install a larger system, but will not receive money for the portion over 10kW). With this program, the $/watt decreases as more systems are installed. Note that all money from the Sunshine Grant Program is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
More Incentives for Businesses:
Businesses in any state are eligible to receive a federal tax credit for 30% of the installed system cost, and there is no limit on the size of the system. Both wind and solar installations qualify to receive the 30% federal tax rebate on the installed cost of a system put into service by 2016. Businesses can carry this tax rebate over twenty years. SunLion Energy Systems will provide the forms necessary to apply for this federal money and help you fill out the paperwork.
In addition, many states have incentive programs; and some, when added to the federal tax credit can off-set the cost of a system by over 50%. Specifically in Pennsylvania, the PA Sunshine Grant Program offers grant money to Pennsylvania businesses that invest in a grid-tied solar electric system. To receive grant money under this program, the system must be installed by a solar electric installer on the program’s qualified installer list. As one of PA’s oldest green energy providers, SunLion Energy Systems is on the PA Sunshine Program’s Qualified Installer List and handles all the application paperwork for you to receive the grant money. Note that all money from the Sunshine Grant Program is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
